Gujarat, India; collected in the Toraja area of Sulawesi, Indonesia
14th -15th century, (carbon dated 1382 - 1502)

Technique: Block printed, resist and mordant dyed cotton, block size: 5 1/2" x 4 1/2"
Dimensions: 3' 11" x 3' 1" ( 1.2 x .94 m )

Description: Each block shows a seated figure, probably a Jain sage, with three attendant persons.
The design relates closely to the 15th century Jain religious manuscript, the Kalpasutra.

Condition: Very good; small holes and a slight stain, excellent color.
