Comment: Noshi are strips of dried abalone that illustrate a homophone with the word "noshi" meaning "extend". Noshi are tied to gifts as a wish for prolonged happiness, wealth and the continuation of the family line. These noshi strips have mostly now been replaced with paper strips.
